CONTEXT
artist residency and grassroots festival at lake Baikal
22 JULY - 4 AUGUST 2019
{a residency at lake Baikal for artists from Belarus, Germany, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine}
WHERE
{the residency will take place in Bolshoe Goloustnoe at lake Baikal. Up to 10 artists will research and reflect the local context, looking beyond the common narratives. The participants will explore the local ecosystem, its human and non-human elements and their entanglement in the global social and environmental justice and human rights agendas to (re)think the possibilities of building sustainable common futures}
WHEN
{on 22.07 we will meet in Irkutsk, then move to Bolshoe Goloustnoe. There we will have 9 days to meet the locals, form groups, do research and work on a site-specific piece of each artist's choice (e.g. land art/street art/performance/documentary/ audio/video/any of your ideas).

The residency will end on 2-3.08 with a grassroots festival in Bolshoe Goloustnoe organized by local initiatives, artists and activists: the participants of the residency will present the results of their work and, if willing, join the festival team with their own small workshops/ performances or other formats of engaging with the public}
