- By train from Irkutsk or Krasnoyarsk. You can find schedule and buy tickets on the official website of Russian Railroads https://pass.rzd.ru/main-pass/public/en
- By plane from Irkutsk or Ulan-Ude to Nizhneangarsk (much further away from the start of a trail)
You can get to the beginning of the trail by your own car, by bus, or take a taxi from Severobaykalsk. The bus that runs twice a day between Severobaykalsk and the village of Baikalskoye departs at 8 am and 5 pm from the station square in Severobaykalsk. It usually takes about half an hour to get to the beginning of the trail by bus. We recommend you to stop at the observation point from where you'll have beautiful view of the coast of Baikal.
The trail starts on the shore near the Slyudyansky lakes. There are two paths to the beginning of the trail - the first starts before the lakes if you go from Severobaykalsk, and the other one just after and goes through the recreation zone with camping facilities near the lake. If you choose the second one you will have to pay for the entrance, but it will be possible to swim in the Slyudyansky lakes that have much warmer water than Baikal.
It's also possible to start in Baikalskoe village and finish the trail near Slyudyansky lakes.
